Alhadi Bustamam was born in Panampung (Agam-West Sumatera) in 18 September 1972. He received his bachelor degree in computational mathematics in 1996,master degree in computer science in 2002 from Universitas Indonesia, and PhD degree in bioinformatics from The University of Queensland,Australia in 2011. He is a very talented, visioner, self-motivated, energetic, creative, responsible, and hardworking person with an adaptable and open-minded personality and lots of excellent managerial experiences.
His research focuses on computational mathematics, computational biology, bioinformatics, data science and artificialintelligence and big data analytics. Currently, he is working as an Associate Professor and the Head of Postgraduate Study Program inMathematics, the Head of Bioinformatics and Advanced Computing Laboratory (BACL) at Department of Mathematics, and he is also serving asthe Chairman of Data Science Center (DSC) www.dsc.ui.ac.id at Universitas Indonesia.
He has consistently received many research grants with various competitive research grants from UI, DIKTI/BRIN, including international research grants such as MIRA (MIT-Indonesian Research Alliance), and also from a multinational private company such as UMG Idealab. He is also working in collaboration between Data Science Center and Industries/National or International privatecompanies (e.g SAMSUNG, UMG Idea Labs, Global Risk Management, Aksaramaya, etc) to establish new startup company in the field of datascience and big data analytics for various targeted solutions in the industry, including heath care, such as AI application for insurance (URIMOlife,COVCO), healthcare (ATM-Sehat).He is reviewer of various International Journals associated with IEEE, ACM, Elsevier, and Wiley. He is also a national/international certified reviewer of DIKTI Research Grants and LPDP Scholarships Program.
