Dien hold a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication (2004) and a Master of Science in Social Psychology (2006) from Universitas Indonesia. In 2008, he joined the Department of Health Education and Behavioral Sciences, Faculty of Public Health Universitas Indonesia to teach courses related with public health communication. In 2011, he received the Fulbright scholarship for his doctoral training at the Department of Health Promotion, Education and Behavior, School of Public Health, University of South Carolina. In 2014, he received the Global Tobacco Control scholarship from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health for a certification in tobacco control research program. Currently his works encompass social and behavioral communication research in the area of tobacco control, substance abuse, health literacy, mental health literacy and nutrition literacy.
